Kunde Estate Winery and Vineyards

Our standards are set high for the wineries that we choose to put on our "Focus List". Our latest addition to the list exemplifies qualities such as longevity, consistency, quality, and a broad portfolio of varietals that complement our menu.

Kunde Estate Winery and Vineyards The vineyards were first planted in 1879 with cuttings from famous Bordeaux estates.

The founder, Louis Kunde, acquired the vineyards in 1904. They survived during the Prohibition by selling "Sacramental Wines".

Kunde Estate Vineyards Today, the family oversees a state of the art winemaking facility.

There are over 1850 acres on the property with 700 acres growing more than 20 varietals. They are also sustainably farming their lands with a balance of animal and plant life.

In October 2004, three generations of the Kunde family gathered for a 100th anniversary celebration. The fourth and fifth generation family members remain hands-on proprietors.

2007 Magnolia Lane Estate Sauvignon Blanc, Sonoma Valley

The line of magnolia trees that line this vineyard are stunning and so is this wine. Aromas and flavors of passion fruit, guava, and grapefruit are dominant. The blend of the wine is 87% sauvignon blanc with 9% semillon and 4% viognier rounding out the fullness of the finish. It will pair well with salads, shellfish, medium bodied white fish, and pastas in light sauces.
$7.50 per glass - $28.00 per bottle

2004 Estate Reserve Chardonnay, Sonoma Valley

This chardonnay is a particular standout. It is crammed with great aromas of baked fruit like apple and pear with a finish that hints of butterscotch. It has it all: great intensity, complexity, boldness and a crisp full finish. It will complement lobster, scallops, medium bodied fish with butter or cream sauces, lighter pastas and poultry.
$9.50 per glass - $36.00 per bottle

2003 Estate Merlot, Sonoma Valley

This is textbook merlot with ripe black cherry flavors, a hint of toasty oak, supple tannins and a milk chocolate finish. The body falls between cabernet sauvignon and pinot noir. The 4% cabernet franc adds to the roundness of the finish. It will blend with a very broad range of foods - pasta with meat sauce, poultry with rich sauce, full bodied fish, and most grilled meats.
$7.50 per glass - $28.00 per bottle

2005 Estate Zinfandel, Sonoma Valley

Sonoma is a great place to grow zinfandel and the gnarly vines at Kunde produce particularly great fruit. The roots sink deeply into red volcanic soil. The wine shows bold boysenberry aromas and rich berry flavors with a hint of chocolate, cardamom and pepper. Small amounts of petite sirah and syrah add to the depth. Pair this with pizza, pastas with medium to full sauces, meats and cheeses like parmigiano.
$8.50 per glass - $32.00 per bottle

2005 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma Valley

This cabernet sauvignon is the epitome of Sonoma cabernet showing herbal accents wrapped around a core of black raspberry and black cherry. A touch of syrah, malbec and petit verdot adds both color and richness. This wine complements a wide variety of meats (try our lamb shank or osso buco), hard cheeses and don't forget the chocolate for dessert.
$8.50 per glass - $32.00 per bottle
